Location: Pioneer Memorial Park, 1146 Church St, Mountain View.
What: A Food Swap is where homemade and homegrown foods become your trading currency - no money involved! It's part silent auction, part marketplace, part open house. Bring your homemade or freshly harvested specialties to exchange for other handcrafted or homegrown delights.
We’ll provide swap cards, name tags, and event organization. You’ll have the chance to propose trades in a silent auction-style format and choose the offers you wish to accept. Feel free to bring as much or as little as you like; there’s no minimum or maximum.
Who: Residents of Mountain View and nearby communities.
Cost: Entry is free for swap participants!
REGISTER with your name, contact info & description of items you plan to trade. For this swap, we are capping the number of swappers at 20.
On the day of the swap, please bring your hand crafted goods and arrive promptly at the start time. The first half-hour of the event is dedicated to swapper sign-in, set-up, and samples, and we’ll only begin swapping once everyone’s settled in. Feel free to bring samples of your goods for others to try during the open browsing portion of the swap.
Here are a few more details to help you prepare :
How It Works: Upon arrival, you’ll receive swap cards where you can list your items and note any special ingredients, dietary information, or details about how your items were made or grown. This gives other participants a chance to get to know your creations before trading begins. During the swap, you can browse others' items and place silent bids, expressing interest in exchanging your items for theirs.
Tips for Swapping Success:
Presentation Counts: Packaging your items neatly (think mason jars, small baskets, or pretty labels) can add a special touch and attract more interest.
Sample Sizes: Bringing a few sample sizes for people to taste can help your items stand out.
Be Open to Variety: While you might come with a few specific trades in mind, try to be open to the unexpected! Swaps are a great way to try new foods and get inspired by others’ creativity.
What to Expect: Once all the bids are in, you’ll have the freedom to review your offers and choose the trades you want to accept. It’s a flexible process, so if you receive multiple offers for one item, you can decide which ones work best for you. The goal is for everyone to leave with unique items, new recipes to try, and a sense of community.
Whether you’re a seasoned swapper or new to the concept, the Food Swap is all about sharing, learning, and celebrating homemade and homegrown goods. Come ready to trade, connect, and enjoy.
It’s as simple as that!

FAQs
What can I bring?
Anything homemade or homegrown! Popular items include baked goods, jams, pickles, spice blends, granola, garden veggies, sauces.
How much should I bring?
What you bring is your "currency" for swapping! There’s no set rule, but most people bring 6-10 portions of their item (or fewer portions of multiple items). Bring as much or as little as you like, but remember, the more you bring, the more you can trade!
How do I package it?
Package your items in a way that feels tradeable and fair, keeping portion sizes consistent with the effort or value of your creation. Choose packaging that’s easy to handle, like jars, bags, or small containers, and aim for portions that encourage an even exchange—neither too small nor overly large. Presentation matters, too, so make it appealing and swap-ready!
Do I need to label my items?
Yes, please! A simple tag with the name, key ingredients, and any allergens makes it easier for everyone to enjoy.
Do I have to trade with everyone?
Not at all! You decide who to trade with based on the offers you like.
Is this a sales event?
Nope! No money changes hands. It’s just for fun and community—no selling, no pitches, just good vibes and tasty trades.
